The Beefy Boys is as close to perfection as any of us have ever tasted in a burger. The burger patties were a perfect balance between juicy, seasoned and flavourful. They have a huge selection of sauces to choose from and multiple choices of patty styles.
In particular, the Oklahoma-style patty was a favourite, although agreed upon that it may not be necessary if the burger already has onions in it.
The fries were a perfect crispyness and tasted as though they had been fried in fresh peanut oil which gave it a unique flavour. however, we all agreed that they would be nicer if slightly thicker rather than a McDonald’s type size.

Their accolades speak volumes about their culinary prowess. The Beefy Boys clinched the title of UK’s Best Burger at the 2015 World Burger Championships in Las Vegas, catapulting them into the national spotlight. This achievement solidified their reputation as burger maestros and drew food enthusiasts from far and wide to taste their award-winning creations.

The burger sauce we found to be slightly too strong (the mustard). The sauce slightly overpowered a lot of the other flavours.

Otherwise, a perfect burger. We just wish the fries were a little better in this meal.

Beefy boys excluded, this takes our award for the best burger in Bristol

Fattso is an award-winning smash burger vendor based in Bristol. They are known for their caramelized patties, topped with unique flavours and sauces. The Royale with Extra Cheese, a burger from Fattso, won third place at the National Burger Awards in London in 2023

An extremely well-cooked and tasty burger.

The only negatives are that the burger was quite greasy and the cheese was a little overpowering.

The fries were near perfect, especially the option with the old bay seasoning.

4. BrewDog

A very good burger place overall. If you like drinking with your burger then this is a great place for you.
The atmosphere, however, was extremely loud and busy when we went.
We recommend booking a table in advance, especially on a weekend.

We got the patriot burger which has a BBQ base. Some of us were split on the BBQ base.

For a puck-style burger, it was extremely well-cooked and juicy throughout.

5. Honest Burger

A very good burger place overall. The patties are very very nice and well-sourced.

This place has an extremely good value for money and is out favourite thicker style burger.

6. Bare Grills

This place was a different style of burger. It was more smokey and BBQ-like. It was very nice though – just different to a standard burger place.

7. Three Brothers

The burger tasted amazing but could have been slightly more juicy. The loaded fries were amazing.

Located in the iconic floating harbour, Three Brothers Burgers is where ambience meets incredible food. Set within a converted boat house, it offers an extensive menu featuring juicy, stacked burgers. Their commitment to using local, high-quality ingredients shines through in every bite. Whether you opt for their classic ‘Three Brothers Burger’ or delve into their ‘Veggie Stack,’ each creation is a testament to their dedication to burger perfection.

8. Magu Diner

The burgers aren’t necessarily special but the sauce made the burger very nice. They only take cash though…

9. Milk Bun

Quite expensive, but good. The best part about this place was their fries. If they had seasoning they would have been perfect.

10. Oowee Diner

8.2
7.5
7.9

The burger tasted amazing. Not incredibly flavourful but overall great. They put lots of cheese on everything though – So if you aren’t a fan of cheese, this place isn’t for you.

Oowee Diner has garnered quite a following. With locations in various parts of the city, their menu is a celebration of all things deliciously decadent. From towering burgers dripping with cheese to loaded fries and inventive milkshakes, Oowee’s inventive take on American diner classics never fails to impress.

(NOW CLOSED)

The best part about this burger place was the experience. The ordering was great – fun almost. A very chilled atmosphere. The fries were just like McDonald’s Fries.

The Burger Joint offers a customizable burger experience like no other. The emphasis on locally sourced ingredients adds a unique touch to every bite.

Burger Joint isn’t just a spot for burgers; it’s a shrine for creating your personal best burger in Bristol.

12. The Hobgoblin

7.7
5.6
6.7

Everything about this place was just ‘okay’. The average score was brought up quite a bit on this place by one of the members saying it was one of the best burgers they’d ever had in their life. The rest of us weren’t too keen and said it was just okay.

13. Asado

7.3
7.8
7.6

This was an interesting one. The opinions very extremely mixed. We think mainly down to the chimichurri in the burgers. If you go here, ask for it without – Unless that’s your thing.
The people who didn’t have ChimiChuri quite enjoyed their burger. Those who had it in theirs hated the burger and didn’t even want to finish it.

Five Guys was our point of reference for all of these reviews. We used to love Five Guys until we started going to other burger places.

As a group, we all agree that the Quality of Five Guys has dropped in the past few years, especially for the price.

The burger is quite dry and nothing good – Almost like a McDonald’s Burger.

However, the smash fries were amazing.

For the price, the burger wasn’t great at all. The Burger was dry and didn’t even taste seasoned. Well Below Average.

We may have gone on a bad day, but the burger just wasn’t good for any of us.

This was our most expensive visit. We all left feeling robbed.

The payment experience was very smooth and easy though.

Where Should I Go?

The answer to this question depends on what experience you are looking for. See below for the answers to your questions.

If you want the best burger experience possible, travel a little bit to Cheltenham and go to Beefy Boys – It is worth it. Make sure you have a booking though.
If not, we recommend going to Fattso.

Most places average around £20-ish per meal.

Honest Burger we think is the best value for money as you can get a full meal including a drink for £13.80

Avoid Burger Theory and Asado

No matter what style of burger you like, The Beefy Boys can do everything.

Otherwise:

If you like a thicker patty, Honest Burger is for you.

If you like a thinner smash-style patty, then we recommend Fattso

For the best Fries around, Danny’s burger has you covered with the perfect crispy-to-fluffy ratio.

They do in-between a McDonald’s and a Chip Shop size fry which we think is perfect.

They also have loaded, nacho and poutine options.

If you love things that are extra cheesy, we recommend Oowee Diner then Danny’s Burger.

For Vegan-style burgers, we recommend going to Honest Burger.

For a chilled/relaxed atmosphere, we recommend going to Fattso, Danny’s Burger or the Hobgoblin. These are more of a pub than a restaurant.

If you like more of a restaurant experience, we recommend either The Beefy Boys or Honest Burger

If you’d like a quieter and less busy experience then either The Burger Joint or Hobgoblin is for you.
